You Can’t Tell Me the Phillies Aren’t the Best Team In Baseball

The Phillies had one of the craziest months of baseball in August record breaking at that.

Just look at some of the stats:

-59 team home runs (most by any NL team)

-Scored 176 runs (most since May 2008)

-Team OPS of .905

-17-10 record

-Bryce Harper: 10 HR, 24 RBI, .784 SLG, 1.236 OPS, reached 300th career HR mark

-Kyle Schwarber: 10 HR, .380 OBP, .944 OPS

But let’s not forget the resurgence of one Trea Turner. Since the August 4th ovation game, Turner put up: .365, 35 H, 21 R, 9 HR, 9 2B, 1 3B, 26 RBI, 1.164 OPS. Along with an outstanding glove at shortstop, the 30-year-old vet got his game back. People really didn’t think the ovation and support would work. I guess they just forgot about Alec Bohm last season because clearly the fans have power. With the power and timing of both Harper and Turner coming back, the confidence everyone should have in the Phillies should go through the roof for the homestretch.

The Daycare keeps on producing left and right. Johan Rojas, Bryson Stott, Brandon Marsh and Alec Bohm have continued to contribute in big ways at the bottom of the lineup, sometimes in the most clutch situations. A lot of this success by the young players just has a 2022 October feel to it.

This past month of August will be one to remember for Philadelphia, but let’s hope with all the accolades and achievements it keeps them atop the NL Wild Card race. They currently sit at the top with a 4.5 game lead.
