by It’s Monday y’all and with the first full weekend of college football (essentially) in the books, it’s time for the bold takes and overreactions to flow.
Not an Over-Reaction: Oregon State will play for the PAC-12 Title
I personally do not think this is an over-reaction. In this new world of a college football with games being 40% football and 60% commercials, Oregon State’s ability to ground and pound the ball and take even more snaps away from opposing offenses cannot be understated. Top that with the fact that DJ U. looked like the guy everyone thought he was supposed to be at Clemson, I think the Beavs could maybe even 1 up their season from last!
Over-Reaction: Ohio State will lose 4+ games this year
Alright now listen y’all… I think they lose 2-3 games which is uncharacteristic for the Buckeyes, but this is probably Ryan Day’s worst team talent wise. MHJ looks like he’s gonna pull a JSN and fake/milk an injury all year, Ebuka isn’t a #1 WR, and I think Ryan Day is an awful coach. There I said it, Harbaugh was right! He was born on 3rd base and thinks he hit a triple, what a bum. I can’t wait till he gets fired!
Not an Over-Reaction: Coach Prime will beat USC and/or Oregon
I can picture it right now: Colorado beats up on Nebraska and Colorado State and it sets up a College Gameday trip to Eugene, OR for Buffs-Ducks in a Top-10 (yes, if Colorado is 3-0 heading into Eugene they will be in the Top-10 100%) matchup! Call me crazy, I am and have always been a believer (see my card from last Saturday), but I’m not like some of these journalists who say Colorado will win 5-6 games… I’m thinking more like 8-10!
Over-Reaction: Drew Allar will get Penn State over the hump this year
The stats and the score looked fine vs. West Virginia (R.I.P. Clay’s WVU +20.5), but for those who did watch the game, Allar did not look all that good. Sure, he made some cool looking plays… we expect that from a 5-Star QB though. The fact of the matter is that if WVU’s DBs did not have bricks for hands and then ate popcorn for a pregame meal, Allar woulda had 3+ INTs and we are looking at him a lot differently. I just don’t see him doing this year.
Not an Over-Reaction: Florida State is Georgia’s biggest threat to the 3-Peat
I had LSU winning that game last night. I did not believe in FSU at all, I thought they were all hype and LSU would be them by 14+… well yeah I was wrong! Florida State is THEM. I mean they DISMANTLED LSU in all 3 facets of the game. They got NFL Talent on both sides of the ball and in what looks like every position group. I think Florida State makes the playoff this year. I cannot believe I am saying that…
Over-Reaction: Texas. Is. Back.
However much Bama is favored by on Saturday— it ain’t enough. Texas is not back. Stop thinking that. Texas will never be “back” and I think it’s ridiculous that they expect to win 11+ games every year. Being consistently a 9-win team with the occasional 10+ win seasons is perfectly fine! I think this team is another 8-4/9-3 season. And I am sure that Texas fans will be calling for Sark’s job like the nut jobs they are.
