If you’re looking for a good bet on the only bowl game of the day, look no further. Here’s one play that will cash in tonight’s Frisco Bowl between UTSA (8-4) and Marshall (6-6).
After flirting with other potential head coaching jobs, head coach Jeff Traylor announced his return to San Antonio for another year as he will continue to be the architect of a high-octane offense led by the electric dual-threat QB Frank Harris.
Like many bowl games, motivation will be a key piece in this one as the seventh-year senior Harris, who broke the school record for total offense this season, is playing in his final game as a Roadrunner, along with leading receiver Joshua Cephus (1,047 yards and 9 TD). UTSA is also 0-4 in its bowl history and is hungry to get that postseason monkey off of its back.
UTSA has the upper hand in the trenches too, as it ranks 38th in the FBS with 174.8 YPG on the ground, while the Marshall defense comes in at 129th. Running backs Kevorian Barnes and Robert Henry, who are averaging 4.9 yards or better each time they carry the rock, should have a night, especially with the Thundering Herd front spying Harris all game.
Scoring wise, UTSA has averaged 31.7 PPG with two of its four lowest-scoring games this season coming in games that Harris missed (Army and Tennessee). Marshall has surrendered 28+ in its past five games as well.
