Commish: Quinn Ewers – QB, Texas
Getting a win in Tuscaloosa is worthy of being mentioned as one of the best performers of the week. The highly-touted prospect finally had his signature game as a Longhorn as he threw for 349 yards and 3 TDs. An absolute laser show from Ewers and ladies and gentlemen… Texas might be BACK!
Dom: Tyler Van Dyke – QB, Miami (FL)
Van Dyke led Miami to an impressive 48-33 win at home against Texas A&M this past Saturday. Texas A&M boasts one of the best rosters in the country (4th in 247Sports composite rankings), but they were unable to contain Van Dyke and this Miami offense. In an efficient performance, the junior threw for 374 yards and 6 touchdowns, completing 21 of his 30 pass attempts. Even more impressive, Van Dyke and the Hurricanes ended the game on a 41-16 run after initially trailing 17-7. The performance was impressive enough to earn a player of the week nod, which leads to the question on everybody’s mind: “Can Tyler Van Dyke lead Miami back to national prominence?”
Clay: Audric Estime – RB, Notre Dame
Going to be a bit of a homer here, but Estime deserves my top player performance with another great game for the Irish. Ripping off an 80-yard touchdown run takes up most of his 134 for the day, but that game puts him atop the NCAA in rushing yards (345). The bruising back found the end zone a second time and averaged 9.6 yards a carry (14 CAR).
Snade: JT Daniels – QB, Rice
The “Ryan Fitzpatrick of college football” put on a show while helping the Owls snap a seven-game losing streak to Houston on Saturday. Daniels lit up the stat sheet in Rice’s 43-41 (OT) upset, throwing for a career-high 401 yards and 3 TD.
KKarp: Omarion Hampton – RB, North Carolina
Hampton propelled a Tar Heel team that dodged an upset behind their rowdy 40-34 (2-OT) win over App State on Saturday. The workhorse running back accounted for 44% of UNC’s total offense by racking up 234 yards and 3 TD on the ground while averaging 4.46 yards after contact per carry.
Honorable Mentions:
- Marvin Harrison Jr. – WR, Ohio State
- Shedeur Sanders – QB, Colorado
- Sam Hartman – QB, Notre Dame
- Eugene Asante – LB, Auburn
- Gevani McCoy – QB, Idaho
- Bo Nix – QB, Oregon
