Accounting for five total TD and over 300 yards is a feat that many players would dream of happening on their Saturday afternoon. How about doing it as a true freshman in their first collegiate start?! Jaylen Raynor carried Arkansas State to a win over Southern Miss after throwing for 233 yards and rushing for 97 yards with five total touchdowns! Have a day Jaylen Raynor! Arkansas State may have their QB of the future!
Dom: Ashton Jeanty – RB, Boise State
The original Group of 5 darling, before we even called them the Group of 5, was lead to victory at San Diego State last Friday by Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty ran for over 200 yards at a staggering 8.9 yards per carry clip, while finding the end zone twice. He also contributed four receptions for 49 yards in the receiving game as the Broncos got it done on the road.
Clay: Emmanuel Michel – RB, Air Force
I mean Lord have mercy, Michel toted the rock like anyone has ever toted before. A total of 33 carries… 33! He racked up a career high 148 yards on the ground alone and found the goal line three times, tying that career high. SJSU didn’t stand a chance and Michel made the most of it.
Snade: Byrum Brown – QB, South Florida
Brown took the top off the defense throwing for 435 and two TD, and then took the bottom off of it too rushing for another 82 yards and a TD. All in all, hard to not be the POTW when ya have 517 total yards and three total TD against a solid Rice team.
KKarp: Naiem Simmons – WR, South Florida
Someone had to haul in the passes that Brown threw, and Simmons happily obliged. The Bulls wide out went absolutely ballistic against Rice on Saturday en route to a career-high eight catches and a school-record 272 receiving yards to go along with a TD.
