I’m back. It’s been a minute, but it’s time to get back on the blog grind, and I’ve chosen to start with the most frustrating, mind-numbing Eagles team we have seen in quite some time.
Sean Desai and Matt Patricia are OUT as coaches. Throw a party for that alone. The healing process has begun. No more dropping edge rushers into coverage, leaving corners on islands 12 yards off the ball and maybe we could get some actual blitz concepts.
The Eagles have spoken to Wink Martindale, former New York Giants DC. To think of what this defense could look like under a competent DC just gets you excited. It’s also a little sweeter if they would sign him, as it would be stealing a quality coordinator from a divisional rival. Wink’s defense would bring some aggressiveness that the Eagles lacked for much of the season.
Once they find a coordinator, linebacker would be the next step in fixing the worst tackling team in the league. It’s been very evident that you need quality linebackers to make it anywhere in this league. Nicholas Morrow, Zach Cunningham and Shaquille Leonard aren’t cutting it. The book is still out on Nakobe Dean who has been injury riddled to start his career. The secondary is a whole other problem that needs ratification, but one step at a time.
