CFB Week 12 Nerd Nuggets

A few fascinating notes and trends for Week 12 in college football to keep in mind!

Harvard and Yale square off for the 137th time this weekend in what is widely known as the other “The Game.” Interestingly enough, Harvard is 5-1 in the IVY, but has a +35 point differential while Yale is 4-2 in the IVY with a +50 point differential in 2023. 

UNLV and Oregon are the only two teams in the country to be undefeated ATS on the road this season (UNLV +3.5 at Air Force/Oregon -23.5 at Arizona State).

Penn State is 5-1-1 ATS in games following a loss to Michigan under James Franklin. The Nittany Lions are 20.5-point home favorites vs Rutgers on Saturday.

In its last 13 games as an underdog against Sun Belt opposition, Louisiana is 10-3 ATS with seven outright wins. The Ragin’ Cajuns are 16.5-point dogs at Troy on Saturday.

In the last nine games dating back to last year which Iowa has had a game with a total under 38, eight have gone under with six games seeing 23 or fewer points scored. (O/U 30.5 vs Illinois this Saturday)

Since the start of the 2022 season, there have been 16 unranked home teams favored over ranked opponents… 12 of the 16 won outright (Iowa State lost two of those games — 2.5-point favorites vs Baylor in ’22 and 3-point favorites vs Kansas in ’23). Clemson hosts #20 UNC as 6.5-point favorites on Saturday.
