Birds’ Camp Cuts and 53-Man

Howie Roseman was at it again this week as training camp has reached an endpoint. With that, cuts, trades, practice squad moves, etc. commence.

Roseman is certainly making it clear that he likes what he’s seen from young UDFA Eli Ricks. Ricks has done nothing but produce on the field when given the opportunity. The Bama product racked up four pass breakups, a pick six and held quarterbacks to a 39.1 passer rating when he was in coverage. A well-deserved roster spot, and great depth for the Eagles behind the starters and for the potential future.

Howie Roseman also didn’t remain quiet on the trade front, a shocker to us all as usual. Roseman acquired Denver TE Albert Okwuegbunam, that’s never going to be easy to spell. The Eagles gave up a 2025 6th round pick for Albert O. and a 2025 7th round pick. The 6’5, 258lbs TE adds great depth to the offense and a potential red zone target. Another great Howie Roseman move.

Other notable moves included waiving K’Von Wallace and Arryn Siposs. For a while the fan base had been clamoring for Siposs to be cut due to his very inconsistent and poor performance over the last year. The team is looking for a replacement before the regular season starts.

With Wallace cut, that makes way for the young safeties Reed Blankenship and Sydney Brown to take the stage with a lot of hype built behind them. It wound surprising to see Wallace back on the practice squad.

There’s no doubt there will be more moves made by the best GM in the league before Week 1.
