A Trojan QB Riding on the Heisman Dark Horse

The Heisman trophy is the most prestigious award in all of college sports. Winning this trophy puts you in a class of elite and gets you in a bunch of Heisman House commercials. Before the season there is always a guessing game of who will win the Heisman. I think there may be a dark horse Heisman candidate that is not getting a ton of buzz heading into the season. USC QB Miller Moss is my Heisman dark horse and I am going to share to why at +4000 via DraftKings Sportsbook, this could the bet of the college football season.

The last seven Heisman winners can be split up into two categories: one being that they play in the SEC, and the second category is that they play quarterback for Lincoln Reily. Here is a list of the last seven Heisman winners:

2023: Jayden Daniels QB (LSU)

2022: Caleb Williams QB (USC) *Lincoln Riley HC

2021: Bryce Young QB (Alabama)

2020: DeVonta Smith WR (Alabama)

2019: Joe Burrow QB (LSU)

2018 Kyler Murray QB (Oklahoma) * Lincoln Riley HC

2017: Baker Mayfield QB (Oklahoma) * Lincoln Riley HC

I will add that it does not hurt that he plays quarterback, as that is the predominant position of the Heisman trophy winner, especially with how much offense in football has become pass oriented. Miller Moss in his start in the Holiday Bowl vs. Louisville threw for 372 yards and 6 touchdowns. I know the bowl games have turned into a glorified scrimmage, but if he can put up games like these with Lincoln Riley calling plays, the numbers can be among the best in the country. If USC can win their opening game against LSU they have a very favorable schedule that can almost certainly put them in pole position to be in the playoff this year with the new expansion. Putting up monster numbers and being a QB in the College Football Playoff are the 2 criteria that the winner this year will have. The odds are too rich to not sprinkle. Miller Moss for Heisman!
